Firewall

Firewall is enabled by default. This secures your connection to the internet. All outgoing traffic is being monitored by default. Furthermore, you can view connections, view logs, create strict rules and start monitoring incoming traffic according to your needs.

Hardened Firefox

LIX Linux uses Firefox as its default web browser. Unlike major web browsers, Firefox doesn’t spy on its users. LIX Linux further hardens the web browser for you in its general and about:config settings to block trackers and prevent browser fingerprinting.

Private Search

LIX Linux provides private search engine for web browsing. The current default search engine is Duck Duck Go. Other search engines can be used but the default is a private search engine already set in web browser for your use.

Security Updates

Privacy and Security go hand in hand. Security updates are regularly sent to the Discover app store. They can be installed with a single click. A notification is also sent whenever updates are available. Discover makes it easy to install and remove applications.

Proton VPN

Proton VPN (from Proton Mail) is provided to ensure encryption and security of the internet connection. Proton VPN, just like Proton Mail is one of the best in the private tech and is the virtual private network provider which we recommend for privacy.

Onion Share

File sharing is protected by Onion Share for maximum security and privacy. Onion share uses TOR network to anonymously send the files to anyone in the world without leaving any trace.

Anti Malware

Linux is highly secure due to regular security updates and exploits in Linux operating system are almost none existent. But still to take an extra mile for scanning file coming from foreign sources, CLAM AV and CLAM TK are the tools to to use for scanning files, photos, applications and more.

Secure Email Client

The privacy focused email management app, Thunderbird does the job of taking care of your emails, calendars and private information securely. Certain extensions in Thunderbird help provide further functionality for customization and encryption.

Ice Drive is an End to End Encrypted drive storage. On LIX Linux, a shortcut to the drive web app is placed on the right side of panel for quick access, convenient upload, retrieval and storage of files.
